Now while single ticket sales always get the job done, imagine how much more you could be making with ticket bundling. Event promoters lose thousands in ticket sales every month not because people don’t want to come, but because buying in groups is inconvenient and might take a lot to convince friends and family to come to an event they aren’t too excited about.

This is where ticket bundling comes in handy. Offering a group package that is ultimately cheaper than buying the same amount of tickets individually would be. Utilizing VIP packages, multi day event passes, group discounts, and add ons will increase your average order value and sell out your event so much faster.

Group Bundles

Events are a social experience, no one really wants to go to a show, festival, or game alone. Not if they don’t have to. Yet the typical checkout process forces people to buy single tickets. Hesitant friends now won’t buy tickets as there is no benefit to them, leading to abandoned carts. By offering group bundles, the one motivated fan can convince their friends to commit to buying tickets so they can unlock the deal.

Different types of group bundling

  • Buy 3 get 1 free: Which ultimately gives all parties a 25% discount on the ticket if they’re splitting it up evenly. Instead of buying 4 tickets for 4 fans, you’re buying 3 tickets for 4 fans. This feels like a deal that cannot be passed up.
  • Perk loaded group tier: Instead of discounting the ticket price, keep it the same and add some perks. 4 tickets + 4 drink vouchers + 1 reserved parking pass, the value of the ticket is now way higher while the actual cost remains almost the same.

Why group bundling increases your revenue

  • You drop customer acquisition costs as you are only spending ad dollars targeting one person, but you are acquiring four attendees. Your marketing spend now brings in four times the attendance. And if the fan is a recurring customer you are essentially dropping your customer acquisition costs to nearly zero.
  • Now that fans have saved on ticket prices, they are willing to spend more in the venue, increasing bar sales, food vendor sales, and merchandise sales.

The cost of ignoring group buyers

When you only sell single, full price admission tickets, you are leaving substantial revenue on the table which leads to major problems. Events are naturally social, when you make it complicated for people to buy tickets together, you risk losing the entire group, not just one attendee. Single ticket buyers also wait until the last minute to purchase tickets, if they are buying in a group this means they have to plan ahead. So they’re probably going to purchase tickets earlier as it has to be a set plan with friends. You are also losing revenue from inside the venue. If groups are buying standalone tickets, that extra money they would have saved from buying a group bundle is now being spent on the admission ticket itself. So now fans are less inclined to buy drinks, merchandise, and food at the event.

Multi Day & Season Passes

If you are hosting a multi day festival or recurring event, you can create multi day tickets or season passes to guarantee revenue immediately. Discounting a full weekend pass gives fans incredible value and fans will almost always pick the weekend pass bundle rather than buying single day tickets every day. If you solely rely on single day tickets, it is a constant headache and you end up having to market every single date separately.

When you bundle multiple dates together, fans lock in their plans early, giving you guaranteed cash flow long before doors actually open.

Different ways to offer multi day offers

  • The weekend pass (price for 2, sell for 3): Pricing a 3 day pass at a cheaper price than buying 3 separate weekend tickets will show fans how valuable tickets actually are. The savings make the weekend pass a no brainer purchase for the fan.
  • The flexible “Pick 2” pass: Give fans control and let them pick two out of the three dates they want to attend, this way it’s personal to them and removes any commitment anxiety they may have. This guarantees you get two visits out of a fan who might have only bought a singular day ticket.
  • The All Access Season Pass: Sell a limited amount of passes that grants fans access to every single event you host for the season, bundled with express line entry. This will instantly give you a large amount of revenue up front and for dedicated fans, this ticket is extremely valuable.

VIP Packages

In almost every crowd, there’s a group of fans who don’t just want the average show experience, they are looking for the ultimate night out and are willing to spend more money on comfort. If you’re only selling standard General Admission tickets, you are leaving substantial cash on the table.

VIP bundles that increase your average order value

  • Express line and drink pass bundle: Combine a standard admission ticket with express line entry and prepaid drink tokens. Fans get to skip the line and they also get to feel like they’re getting a drink for free because they paid for it with the ticket.
  • VIP lounge access: Offering fans a VIP lounge, early entry, and drink tokens. Not every fan wants to be standing in the pit for hours before the concert actually starts. Some fans are willing to pay a premium for comfort. When fans know they won’t have to wait in ridiculously long lines and have a dedicated area for them pre show, the upgrade to VIP tickets becomes irresistible.

Selling perks like fast track entry or merch bundles costs you very little operational money. It changes how fans view a purchase, because when perks are bundled together buyers judge the overall experience. It turns a standard concert into a premium night out, boosting your revenue per attendee.

Why ticket bundling works

It’s all about perceived value, when a fan sees bundled perks or group savings, the purchase decision switches from “is it even worth the money” to “i’m saving a bunch of money”. You are lowering your customer acquisition costs, filling your seats faster, and boosting overall yield per attendee.
